Lufthansa Group General Manager Australia Anil Rodricks will depart his role to pursue new interests outside the aviation industry, The Walshe Group has confirmed.

Scandinavian Airlines is responding to increasing customer demand for premium service, introducing a new European Business Class, effective 1 October 2025. The new offering ensures a clear and recognisable Business Class product, providing an elevated experience tailored to customers seeking comfort, flexibility, and a higher level of service.

ITA Airways has terminated its membership in the SkyTeam Alliance, which will see the Italian airline exit the group by 30 April 2025. The decision follows ITA Airways’ final approval by regulators to join the Lufthansa Group, announced last month.

In the future, the airlines will also be appointing their guests Frequent Traveller and Senator for life in recognition of their long-standing loyalty. All changes to the status program will apply to flights from 1 January 2021 and onwards.

Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has launched a new lounge experience at Zurich Airport’s Terminal A that features a alpine hut-like ambience. Spread over 500 square metres, the SWISS Alpine Lodge is located at the former site of the First Class Lounge in the terminal and accommodates up to 100 travellers.

Lufthansa Group’s Supervisory Board has approved the purchase of a total of 40 state-of-the-art aircraft for the group’s airlines. The 20 Boeing 787-9 and 20 additional Airbus A350-900 planes will primarily be replacing four-engine aircraft. The new planes will be delivered between late 2022 and 2027.

The commercial activities and the representation of Brussels Airlines, the Belgium member of the Lufthansa Group, will be fully integrated into the Lufthansa Group in Australia effective 1 March 2019.
