Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort, the award-winning, eco-luxury resort in Vanua Levu Fiji, has launched a new after-school computer programme to support the surrounding community and impact the advancement of local education. Launching this week to coincide with Hour of Code”, the programme will involve 30 local school children in an ongoing series which will be held at the resort. The programme will be taught by local, specialized volunteers and will aim to help children master code.

“We’re very excited to launch this new after-school coding programme for the local school children,” said General Manager Bart Simpson. “Computer science and coding knowledge are becoming important skills to have in today’s world, and we are eager to help the future minds of our society advance their education.”

The Hour of Code is a one hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics.
